A new project of the glass factory EISCH ² Artist in Residence² (AIR)
Mr. Jack Ink will start the Artist in Residence exhibition taking place in the "Gallery at the Museum".
Sea anemones and basket corals that he sees during snorcheling, Jack Ink is finding the inspiration for his artistic work everywhere in nature. Wether it is fuchsia blossoms outside his studio or the magnificent play of coulours of exotic flora and fauna in general. Always looking for new possibilities of artistic development he is passionately ploughing through the creative fund of nature. The colours and shapes then appears in his glass objects.
The american glass artist Jack Ink (60) is invited during the next weeks to work on new ideas in the glass factory Eisch. For realisation of his projects, all technical and artistic possibilities of the glass factory Eisch have been made available to him. Starting with Jack Ink, the glass factory Eisch is introducing in an exhibition this new ² Artist in Residence² program to the public. A platform that shall offer artists of international reputation possibilities to realize their ideas of innovative dealing with the traditional material glass. With this commitment the factory is expecting a fresh impetus to their own production as well as for the entire glassproducing area of the Bavarian Forrest. Under the label "Eisch Atelier" all new design will be exclusively exhibited and marketed in the "Gallery at the Museum" shop in Frauenau.
Jack Ink, he started his career being assistant to Harvey K. Littleton, the founder of the international Studioglass movement, is today represented with his work in all important glass museums around the world. Honoured with the Bavarian Government Award and the international renowned ² Coburg Award² he lives in Austria since 1975 and is founder of the ² Studio Glass Group Austria² , heading the ² Glass Studio Franzensbad². The Glassmuseum Frauenau has dedicated various exhibitions to the work of Jack Ink and on a regular basis he has been teaching young artists during the International Summer Academy organized by ²Bildwerk Frauenau².
The official start of the first ² Artist in Residence² periode will take place with the opening of the exhibition ² Jack Ink – Nature into Glass² on June 11th, 2005 at 3 pm in the Gallery at the Museum. Duration of the exhibition: June 11th to September 9, 2005.
Opening hours: Monday – Friday 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday 11 am – 4 pm and by appointment.
Parallel hereto, Erwin Eisch will show his latest paintings, glass objects and art work in the exhibition ² At the beginning there was the picture².
The same day, June 11th, the glass factory Eisch will also be venue of the 2nd International meeting of glass artists. For the glass producing site Frauenau this date has another special meaning, since the new Glassmuseum Frauenau will be opened the same week-end.
