Elaborately finished collectible tumblers bring her legacy to life, uniting the history of the Eisch family with exceptional glass artistry.
“May this strength inspire everyone who takes pleasure in one of the THERESE tumblers.”

The Woman Who Made It All Possible
A Strength That Continues to Resonate
Therese Hirtreiter was born in Frauenau in the Bavarian Forest in 1904. She grew up in modest circumstances – a life marked by hardship, but also by strength, solidarity and a deep sense of justice.
Even as a young girl, she displayed an entrepreneurial spirit and determination. Through small-scale trading and odd jobs, she supported her family and found her own path early in life.
At the age of 21, she fell in love with the glass engraver Valentin Eisch. Despite the opposition they faced, their love endured. They married in 1928 and raised a family of six children – supported by trust and unwavering solidarity.
Strength became character. Solidarity became the future.
Courage in Difficult Times
During the war, Therese became a pillar of strength for her family. She worked, sewed, picked berries and made sure that her children continued to learn and never lost hope.
When, after her two older sons, her youngest son Alfons was also called up for military service at just 15 years of age, she courageously stood up to the Nazis.
It was a moment of resistance that revealed what Therese stood for: courage, justice and the strength never to give up, even in the most difficult of times.
Courage that made history.
A Fresh Start from Scratch
After the war, Therese and Valentin set out to make a fresh start with their children. With no money but plenty of determination, they founded their own glass-finishing workshop.
When Valentin was denied further glass supplies in an attempt to force him to return to his former employer, Therese refused to give up. She fought for a glass furnace of their own – and for her family’s independence.
In 1952, the seemingly impossible dream became a reality: through courage, perseverance and collective effort, the new glassworks was established in Frauenau.
Adversity forged character.
Hardship gave way to a future.
A dream became EISCH.
A Legacy in Its Fourth Generation
The story of Therese Eisch remains an integral part of EISCH’s identity today. Her love for the craft of glassmaking, her belief in solidarity and her conviction that optimism and courage can move mountains have shaped the family across generations.
The THERESE collection was created together with her son Alfons Eisch, who, even at the age of 96, still works every day with great enthusiasm in his glass-finishing workshop.
Today, Julia Eisch and her sons Florian and Michael Eichinger represent the fourth generation carrying Therese’s dream into the future.
A family story. A shared dream. Glass artistry that endures.
